The snapshot refreshes after a promoted release and site rebuild. The dated analysis below remains tied to its stated source period. USD values do not establish physical quantities or AI end use. Partner previews state their own month; an omitted partner is not zero.
China's refined copper wire exports should be read as two product series. HS 740811 covers refined copper wire whose maximum cross-sectional dimension exceeds 6 mm; HS 740819 covers other refined copper wire. The comparison above keeps monthly USD values, growth rates and destinations separate.
Different products, different monthly changes
In the audited release 2026-09-21T093840Z, August 2026 export value was USD 120,492,568 for HS 740811 and USD 140,899,703 for HS 740819. Both rose year on year, by 61.0% and 38.5%, respectively.
The monthly comparison was weaker: the larger-dimension line fell 38.3% from July, while the other refined-copper-wire line fell 9.2%. Both comparable JanuaryβAugust totals remained higher than a year earlier, by 185.1% and 99.2%. These are value comparisons within the published scope, with complete monthly windows for both years.
Two falling monthly USD values can therefore coexist with strong cumulative growth and different shipment-weight trends. Do not relabel these value rates as tonnes. The dated analysis stays tied to its release; the current snapshot above refreshes after a later promoted release and site rebuild.
Why the split matters
The two lines have different monthly movements and destination mixes. In August, the Philippines was the largest recorded value destination for HS 740811, with 25.7%, while Malaysia led HS 740819, with 30.5%. One aggregate growth number would hide both distinctions.
Compare the larger-dimension refined copper wire series and other refined copper wire series before discussing a product-mix change. A destination's share is a share of that product's monthly value, not its shipment weight or share of world demand. A partner outside the top-five preview is not a zero observation.
The broader copper-wire heading includes products beyond these two refined-copper lines. Do not add the parent heading to its children or treat a general βwire and rodβ industry label as an additional customs category.
Weight, value and end use
Customs value depends on shipment quantities, prices and product mix. An implied value per kilogram requires a verified weight unit, identical statistical coverage and nonzero quantity. It is a customs unit value rather than a spot copper price. The current release does not declare a physical unit alongside the quantity fields, so this comparison presents USD values.
Copper wire can support electricity networks, motors and industrial equipment. Customs product descriptions do not establish whether a shipment went into an EV, an AI data centre or a grid project. Compare related products in the clean-energy trade hub, while retaining that end-use limitation.
For a recurring study, keep each line's monthly and cumulative rates beside its country breakdown, then investigate whether a subsequent month confirms the change. The hub's chart CSV contains the displayed global USD series; complete country-month data and verified weight requirements can be specified through the API documentation and product data request.
