Terms of Use
These terms govern use of ChinaData.live, its public API and downloads, and any custom data service agreed with the project operator. By using those services, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use them.
Effective and last updated: July 10, 2026
About China Data Portal
ChinaData.live is independently operated. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorized by any government agency, statistical office, customs authority, international organization, or other data provider unless a page explicitly states otherwise.
The operator or contracting party for paid requests, invoices, and deliveries will be identified in the applicable quote, invoice, order form, or other written confirmation.
Website, API, and Download Use
Public pages, API endpoints, and downloadable samples are provided for evaluation, research, and light usage. The public API currently requires no account or API key. Anonymous requests may be subject to configurable daily and endpoint-specific limits. Responses may include rate-limit and reset headers when enforcement is active.
We may add or adjust limits, block abusive traffic, change response fields, require authentication, or suspend or discontinue a free endpoint. Additive fields may be introduced within the current API version; incompatible changes should use a new version path or be documented for a custom feed.
Acceptable Use
You must not:
- Disrupt, overload, probe, bypass, or interfere with the site, API, rate limits, or security controls.
- Use false identities, conceal automated traffic, or attempt unauthorized access.
- Introduce malicious code or use the services for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or rights-infringing activity.
- Remove source, copyright, trademark, or attribution notices included with data or content.
- Imply that China Data Portal or an original source provider endorses your product or conclusions.
- Redistribute or resell data where an original provider or order-specific agreement restricts that use.
We may restrict or terminate access when we reasonably believe use violates these terms, harms the service or other users, creates security risk, or conflicts with a source provider's restrictions.
Source Data and Intellectual Property
Access through China Data Portal does not override original providers' rights, licenses, attribution requirements, or usage restrictions. You are responsible for checking source notes applicable to your use. See Data Use & Licensing.
Custom Files and Paid Deliveries
A custom request becomes an accepted order only when scope and commercial terms are confirmed in writing. The confirmation may specify datasets, HS codes, flows, countries, periods, fields, source coverage, file format, row limits, refresh cadence, QA checks, permitted use, price, payment schedule, and delivery window.
Larger or recurring work may use a quote, invoice, order form, statement of work, or delivery note. If an order-specific document conflicts with these general terms, the order-specific terms control. No service-level agreement, exclusivity, redistribution right, or continuing refresh obligation applies unless confirmed in writing.
Delivery Review, Corrections, and Cancellations
Unless the written order states otherwise, review a custom delivery within seven calendar days and report any material mismatch with the confirmed scope. If a file materially fails to match that scope, we will make reasonable efforts to correct and re-deliver it or discuss an appropriate credit or refund.
Custom work may be non-refundable after source review, extraction, cleaning, or file preparation has started, except where the confirmed scope cannot be delivered. Recurring work ends according to the applicable order. Free pages, API endpoints, and samples do not include support, uptime, correction, refund, or delivery commitments.
Accuracy and Availability
Data may contain source revisions, delays, omissions, translation differences, reporting changes, or processing errors. Services and content are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of completeness, accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability. Verify critical figures and usage rights with the original source.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the project operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, business, data, or use, arising from the site, API, downloads, source data, or inability to access them. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Third-Party Services and Links
The site may link to or rely on third-party sources and service providers. Their terms and privacy practices govern your direct use of their services. A link does not imply endorsement, and we are not responsible for third-party availability or content.
Changes, Privacy, and Contact
We may update these terms as the service changes. The date above identifies the current version. Continued use after an update means the updated terms apply from their effective date; written order-specific terms remain governed by that agreement.
Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled. Contact [email protected]. Any governing law, venue, tax, procurement, or dispute process required for paid work should be stated in the written order. The parties should first attempt to resolve delivery or payment disputes in good faith.
