The snapshot refreshes after a promoted release and site rebuild. The dated analysis below remains tied to its stated source period. USD values do not establish physical quantities or AI end use. Country series use complete, checksum-verified partner partitions reconciled to global USD totals. Missing partner rows remain unavailable; recorded zeroes remain zero. Partner previews state their own month; an omitted partner is not zero.
China's manganese ore imports need two comparisons: the global monthly trend and changes among supplying countries. The current snapshot above separates the global series from South Africa and Ghana, using monthly customs values in USD.
A weaker total can hide a stronger supplier
In the audited release 2026-09-21T093840Z, August 2026 manganese ore imports were USD 350,784,190, down 24.0% year on year. South Africa supplied USD 274,245,792, up 13.4% year on year, and represented 78.2% of the month's import value. Its July value was USD 227,677,580, so the supplier's monthly direction also differed from the global total.
A rising value share does not establish a rising tonnage share. Prices, ore grades and product mix can change the relationship between the two. The figures here describe customs partners rather than mines, named suppliers or the geological origin of ore.
Ghana: an absent row is not a verified zero
The release records USD 55,300,787 from Ghana in July 2026. Its complete August partner partitions contain no corresponding Ghana observation. The graph therefore leaves a gap and the monthly table displays unavailable data. It does not report a 100% decline or infer zero imports.
This distinction matters for a supplier-disappearance alert. A top-five ranking cannot establish that a smaller partner shipped nothing. Even a complete set of partitions may omit zero rows without declaring that omission convention. A reliable alert requires either an explicit zero observation or a reviewed source contract that establishes zero, alongside complete prior-month coverage and a material absolute baseline.
Product and unit boundaries
The comparison resolves the manganese ore line from the published Chinese tariff catalog. It includes qualifying ferruginous manganese ores and concentrates. Shipment weight is not contained manganese, and an implied customs value per tonne is not a manganese spot price. A quantity comparison needs a declared unit and matching source coverage; the current chart presents USD values.
Use the manganese ore product page for the tariff description and available partner preview. Compare the complete January-to-August windows before interpreting a weak month as a lasting shift. Missing months leave the cumulative comparison unavailable rather than creating a partial-year total.
Continue the supplier study
The critical minerals hub connects manganese with the separate chromium ore comparison. Neither series should be added to the other as a contained-metal measure. The request above retains the observed year, product and import flow; specify verified tonnes and source completeness when requesting a physical-volume supplier study.
