A recovery with a changing supplier mix
China's corn import market has two dimensions: the size of its import bill and the countries supplying it. The monthly trend shows the pace of incoming trade, while supplier shares show who captures that business.

Argentina's emergence adds a new focus to a market historically supplied by the United States, Ukraine and Brazil. Compare the latest supplier ranking with the annual shares to see how the sourcing mix has evolved.
Read the recovery against the earlier peak
A strong year-on-year increase can follow a much smaller comparison base. The annual import table puts the latest year-to-date spending alongside earlier full years, including the higher import bills of 2021–2024. The year-to-date growth rate compares the same months in the preceding year.
For grain exporters and procurement teams, the useful question is whether higher monthly imports continue alongside a sustained change in supplier shares. Shipment timing can move the monthly ranking; the annual comparison provides a longer view.
