Only complete native-HS8 kilogram observations reconciled to eligible partner totals are shown. Partial source coverage, conflicting units and absent country records remain unavailable. Growth requires a verified positive baseline; cumulative growth requires every month in both comparison windows. This is product weight, not contained metal or a benchmark price.

The snapshot refreshes after a promoted release and site rebuild. The dated analysis below remains tied to its stated source period. USD values do not establish physical quantities or AI end use. Country series use complete, checksum-verified partner partitions reconciled to global USD totals. Missing partner rows remain unavailable; recorded zeroes remain zero. Partner previews state their own month; an omitted partner is not zero.
China's natural flake graphite imports and exports can move in opposite directions. This tracker compares the same Chinese tariff line, HS 25041010, in shipment tonnes and customs USD, then shows selected supplying countries. The tables above use the latest published month and refresh after a data release and site rebuild.
Imports, exports and the monthly balance
The shipment-weight panel converts verified customs kilograms to tonnes. Its net-export balance is exports minus imports: a negative result means net imports by weight. Read that monthly balance separately from the complete January-to-reference-month balance.
A quantity surplus or deficit need not point in the same direction as the USD balance. Different grades, forms and declared unit values can give imported material a different average value from exported material. A rise in import tonnes can therefore coexist with a fall in monthly import dollars.
The annual growth rate compares the same calendar month in the preceding year. The monthly rate compares the immediately preceding calendar month. Year-to-date comparisons require every month in both windows; missing history is not filled with zero.
Tanzania, Indonesia and Madagascar
The selected supplier histories show Tanzania, Indonesia and Madagascar alongside the global import total. Each supplier is part of that total. Country rows should not be added to the global row, and their USD shares are distinct from their shipment-weight shares.
An absent Indonesian observation does not establish zero imports or a first-ever shipment. Likewise, a sharp increase from a small monthly base can overstate the scale of a supplier change. Inspect the absolute tonnes, the comparison-month observations and several subsequent months before treating a new share as persistent.
Explore the natural flake graphite import line for the published supplier ranking, and the export line for destination markets. These are customs partner records, not identified mines or manufacturers.
Keep graphite forms separate
The broader HS 250410 family also contains other natural graphite forms. Spherical graphite and artificial graphite have different definitions and applications. The flake line cannot represent all graphite trade, and none of these broad trade observations independently identifies battery-grade anode demand.
Compare the processing stages through the Critical Minerals Hub. Customs flows alone do not explain export licensing, domestic production, inventory movements or downstream use.

The CSV above retains global imports, global exports and the selected supplier histories in their declared flows, with monthly USD and native kilograms. The displayed tonnes equal kilograms divided by 1,000. Overlapping country and global records retain separate identities.
