The snapshot refreshes after a promoted release and site rebuild. The dated analysis below remains tied to its stated source period. USD values do not establish physical quantities or AI end use. Country series use complete, checksum-verified partner partitions reconciled to global USD totals. Missing partner rows remain unavailable; recorded zeroes remain zero. Partner previews state their own month; an omitted partner is not zero.
China's high-purity zinc trade combines a sharp increase in export value with falling imports. The current snapshot compares monthly exports, imports and their USD balance using the same HS 790111 scope. It also shows the leading destinations, including Singapore and Hong Kong.
Exports rise while imports fall
In the website's published release 2026-10-09T181234Z, August 2026 exports were USD 152,098,637, up 17,457.4% year on year and 362.5% from July. Imports were USD 7,512,379, down 89.8% year on year and 58.2% from July. Exports minus imports were USD 144,586,258.
The exceptionally large export percentage uses a prior-year August value of USD 866,296. Show that baseline alongside the latest absolute value: the percentage alone hides the small comparison month. These are customs dollar values, not the separate industry estimate of refined-zinc export tonnage.
JanuaryβAugust exports reached USD 253,406,545, up 569.3%, while imports were USD 212,382,540, down 65.7%. Complete matched eight-month windows are required for these cumulative comparisons. The latest month's positive USD balance does not establish a balance in tonnes or a permanent structural change.
Singapore and Hong Kong lead the latest month
August exports to Singapore were USD 59,099,541, or 38.9% of global export value for this product. Hong Kong received USD 54,525,006, or 35.8%. Together they accounted for 74.7% of the month's USD value.
These latest-month shares differ from the product page's all-history partner summaries. A reported customs destination may be a trading or distribution centre; it does not identify final zinc consumption. The snapshot's destination table refreshes with the published release and keeps its own observation month.
Which zinc grade is covered?
The HS 790111 export page covers unwrought, unalloyed zinc containing 99.99% or more zinc by weight. Its published national children are HS 79011110 and HS 79011190. They describe purity bands within this parent; do not add their values to the parent total.
Lower-purity unalloyed zinc belongs to a different subheading. This page therefore tracks the selected high-purity line rather than claiming a complete refined-zinc industry total. Native quantities need consistent product coverage and verified units before calculating shipment tonnes or USD per tonne.
Follow the trade signal
The panel flags matched observations when export value grows by more than 100% year on year, import value falls by more than 50%, and the latest export value exceeds USD 10 million. This screens research candidates; it does not identify why a shipment occurred. Relative domestic and international prices, inventories and delivery timing need separate evidence.
