Partner contribution to annual net change · 2026-08

Each country uses its matching product and flow. Contribution equals the country's USD change from 2025-08 divided by the global USD net change. It is not a market share.

CountryPrior-year USDCurrent USD Country changeGlobal changeContribution
Nigeria $1.91M $275.86M +$273.95M+$248.52M +110.2%

Nigeria: contributes over 30% of positive global annual export-value growth, with current monthly exports above USD 10 million. This is a research candidate, not proof of a cause.

Missing or impossible country observations remain unavailable. Contributions can exceed 100% when other partners offset the change. Percentages are withheld when the global net change is below 1% of the larger comparison-month value; a tiny denominator can be misleading. These selected countries are not a full destination ranking.

The snapshot refreshes after a promoted release and site rebuild. The dated analysis below remains tied to its stated source period. USD values do not establish physical quantities or AI end use. Country series use complete, checksum-verified partner partitions reconciled to global USD totals. Missing partner rows remain unavailable; recorded zeroes remain zero. Partner previews state their own month; an omitted partner is not zero.

China's air and gas liquefaction machinery exports are unusually concentrated in Nigeria. This tracker compares HS841960 global exports with the same product's Nigerian destination history, using customs USD values, matched months and a separate HS8 product breakdown.

The current snapshot above refreshes after a promoted trade release and site rebuild. The following findings are an October 21, 2026 review of January–August 2026, pinned to release 2026-10-19T000230Z; they are not September observations.

Nigeria's share is the standout signal

In January–August 2026, China exported $516.53 million of HS841960 machinery to Nigeria, compared with $15.62 million in the same eight months of 2025. That is an increase of 3,207.8%, or about $500.91 million in additional export value. The small prior-year base amplifies the percentage, but the current absolute value is substantial.

Global exports in the same scope reached $1.056 billion, up 212.1%. Nigeria accounted for about 48.9% of that eight-month value. This cumulative share is different from its much higher share in the latest month.

In August, exports to Nigeria were $275.86 million, against $306.71 million worldwide: a 89.94% share of that month's export value. This is China's destination share within one customs category, not Nigeria's share of world machinery demand.

Global monthly exports rose from $40.82 million in June to $315.28 million in July, before easing to $306.71 million in August. The chart keeps the Nigerian series separate so that a jump in global exports cannot be mistaken for a Nigerian monthly growth rate.

The HS8 breakdown does not identify an LNG project

The synced customs catalog divides HS841960 into three Chinese tariff lines: large oxygen producers (84196011), smaller oxygen producers (84196019), and other air or gas liquefaction machinery (84196090). The product panel above compares their global exports and shows shares only when the complete child set reconciles to the parent.

The August Nigerian value is overwhelmingly associated with HS84196090, the residual machinery line: $275.83 million was recorded there. That classification does not identify the gas, a named facility, the buyer or the final application. It is insufficient to describe the surge as LNG equipment demand or to attribute it to a particular industrial project.

The dated audit preserves a missing Nigerian observation under one oxygen-producer code as unavailable. Even when observed child values sum to the parent, an omitted child observation is not independent evidence of a recorded zero.

A concentrated delivery schedule is a question for further research. Trade values alone cannot establish whether the pattern reflects a one-off delivery, recurring orders, additional physical capacity or a lasting change in demand.

Market share and contribution measure different things

The current country-share column divides Nigeria's value by global exports in the same month. The annual contribution panel instead divides Nigeria's year-on-year dollar increase by the global year-on-year net increase. Neither percentage measures shipment counts.

The annual comparison uses the prior-year calendar month, while the cumulative comparison requires every January-to-reference-month observation in both years. Missing history stays unavailable, and a tiny global net-change denominator suppresses unstable contribution percentages. Read absolute amounts alongside growth rates.

The CSV contains the displayed global and Nigerian monthly USD series plus the global HS8 breakdown, with release, product, flow, country and month identities. Parent and child values overlap and must not be added together. No equipment counts, tonnes, unit prices or capacity estimates are inferred from USD values.
